Fall Parent Conferences

Tis the week of parent-teacher conferences. Here is where the children are...

Cazin

POTTY TRAINED! Though it was 2 weeks of nothing short of a nightmare, he did it! Academically Cazin knows everything they are working on. He is able to spell his name, both first and last. Though he prefers solitary activities, he is socializing with the other children and seems to be able to communicate with them and get along well with others. He loves puzzles and reading. He likes to participate in arts & crafts (finally!), but is not to keen on the tactile exercises that involve coating your hands. He will try it, but does not seem to enjoy it. At home, he is my sweet, sensitive soul. He adores his Ate Julia and loves his "Baby Ella." He is never violent and though his sisters can reduce him to the most pitiful tears he never pushes or hits, just shakes his fists in frustration.

Julia

Julia is doing well at school. She is well liked by her peers and is reading at 2nd grade level. Mrs. Hathaway also said she is pretty sharp in math and will frequently ask her math problems randomly throughout the day. Her behavior has been much improved since the beginning of school. One thing for sure, she is a clever child. Today both Julia and Cazin were playing upstairs. After some time I heard Cazin's "someone inflicted bodily harm" cry. He said Julia had hit him and her response: "since it was pretend play, it really wasn't hitting." Though she frequently ropes her brother into her evil plans leaving him as the fall boy, she is the best big sister.

Ella

She loves to sing. Anytime. In the car. To herself. While playing. She also has taken to mocking mommy, simultaneously funny and infuriating. Favorites include "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." She is talking and adding new words and phrases to her bank like "Go dude!" (That is what I usually yell to other drivers.) She continues to get her way with her siblings. She sure is a mischievous little thing. Coloring is one of her favorite new activities. Recently, she has become tired of plain old crayons and markers, but food coloring has caught her attention and now is her preferred medium. Ella can count to 15 and loves to be tickled.
