Lightening up a situation

This is a entry from September 4, 2008:

My mom Estela is having a cardiac catherization tomorrow due to chest pain and I am taking the kids up to WV to be with her and help her out. Today I am running around like a crazy woman to finish everything before we leave for WV: laundry, bathrooms, groceries for our guests who will be staying at the house this weekend, yada yada. I'm in the middle of folding clothes when I ask Julia to help out and pick up her toys in the family room. She starts up with the attitude and says "I don't have to clean anything." Well I am sweating at this point in the day still in my gross workout clothes and I launch into one of my tirades..."We all have responsibilities...we all need to pitch in....it is your duty to cleanup after you have played with your toys..."

And then she starts giggling...I am about to reach high octave when she says, "Mommmmmmmmy, hee hee, I love it when you say duuuuuuty! Hahahahahaha......You're a doodie-head." And she wouldn't stop laughing and saying "doodie." I had to cover my face with the top sheet I was folding and go into the other room. I yelled out, "Stop sassing me and clean up or else go to time out!"

That was as funny as the time when I was putting her to bed and I took away her princess phone (no toys are allowed in her bedroom when sleeping) and she said, "Hey! That's mine!"

I replied, "No toys in your bed."

She said, "But I need it because people call me all the time."

And immediately out of my mouth popped "You are not allowed calls past 7pm and that includes bedtime." Oh Julia and her princess posse. Cinderella will just have to leave a facebook message.
