Belated 6 months

I am welcoming this weekend with open arms. This week has left me utterly exhausted after work, chaperoning field trips, errands and doctor appointments. While I love Crozet, I loathe the daily drive into town.
Now that we are almost to 7 months, I guess I should update you on Max at 6 months.

Max is beginning to talk with ba-ba-ba's, da-da-da's and loud screeching. I also like to think he calls me from his crib with one loud "MAAAAAA!" from his crib.

We are also starting the baby proofing tasks. When I say that it means I do a quick scan of the floor to make sure it is void of tiny doll shoes and Lego pieces before letting him go to town doing donuts on the floor. He is now making some linear movement, hovering on his hands and knees and pushing himself backward or trying to drag himself forward with his arms. He is also sitting longer by himself. I was hoping not to have to put the baby gates out before we move, but it looks like I will have to keep them handy.

Besides the head scratch and left handed salute, his other signature move is the karate chop, or the hammer.

Max LOVES to eat. He would not be our child if he didn't. We were given the go-ahead to feed him anything and everything except for raw honey. I think he is over the rice cereal, baby food and yogurt routine as he excitedly munched on some chocolate chip scones this afternoon.

6 month stats: Weight 18 lb 1.1 oz, Length 27 in, HC 44.75 cm
Not to leave out the other children...

Today the allergist was kind enough to squeeze us in as Ella's allergy medicine has not been able to hold her throughout the day during this peak tree pollen time. This was our conversation afterwards.

Did you like Dr. Rakes, Ella? We haven't seen him in a while. You were a great patient today.

(Nodding) Mmm. Yes. His hair not on his head. It's in his nose.

Some of the funniest expressions happen when Ella and Cazin are playing or more often antagonizing each other.

I often hear Ella say this: I don't think so, either!

If Ella wants whatever Cazin is playing with, she often tries to entice him with something else shiny. His response: Um, no thank you. Good day to you.

Recently the kids have gotten back into the car and train phase which often means that they manage to get the the vehicles stuck on the bridges or garages. Ella's solution is to use force and bang the poor toy while Cazin employs a more gentle approach. I hear this phrase often: Ella, first we gotta get this baby out.

Julia is showing her first grown up, pop culture phrases such as this one...
Seriously, Ella? Seriously? And That is so random.

What will they say next?
