XY

On our 4th child, we finally decided to be surprised earlier than later when it came to finding out baby's gender. I had a hunch that it was a boy from small similarities to my pregnancy with Cazin. For instance, rather than glowing I feel shiny. Not R.E.M, but the oily, pimply kind. Nevertheless, that is what Clinique's T-zone shine control is for and we are so very excited that our household will be even. Baby boy is healthy, weight gain is under control and we have 18 weeks to go. Julia came with us to the appointment and she "got exactly what she wanted...another baby brother."

Cazin's response: "Yeah."

Ella's response: "Baby boy, mommy? Are you happy or sad?" Happy! What about you? "I happy!"

It has been a great week. Yesterday was Julia's last day and we are finally on our summer schedule! I still work 2 days at UVA and 1 night at Martha, but omitting the school schedules leaves lots of breathing room. It is nice not to answer to an alarm clock and to schlep the kids into town every morning. It is nice to put the plaid jumpers and peter pan collar blouses away. We look forward to swim lessons, random crafts and activities, summer reading, soccer & tennis camps, Girl Scout camp and VBS.

So, so, so, so, so happy for y'all. Wonder if this means the next will be a girl? :-)
