Good Friday

It was a perfect day. The kids were well behaved, the weather was brilliant and we spent the day with family and friends. Celebrating Good Friday with kids is a little different than how we used to spend it. Mike was off (working at the Pastoral Center definitely has its perks during religious holidays) and volunteered to stay at home with Cazin and Ella while I took Jujube to school and went to aerobics. I always have a child with me, so it was nice being solo and grabbing iced coffee with my Jazzercise friends after class before heading to Target to help out the Easter Bunny with a few items he forgot to pick up.

After school we came home for a quick lunch and change of clothes before heading out to our surprise outing for the kids. Carmen and Julie came with us to enjoy the beautiful scenery at Mountainside Petting Farm. I don't know why we haven't gone before. It is close to Crozet and the perfect size for little kids. After a kiss from Chloe the camel, playing train, dying Easter eggs and surviving a goat escape we were ready to call it an afternoon and head over the Miller's Bake Shoppe, a delicious Mennonite bakery. Jujube had her money from the Tooth Fairy and we had our $25 gift certificate that we won in a drawing last week. We all walked out of there smiling and ready to consume some carbs. Banana bread today (a whoopie pie for Jujube & a baby cherry pie for MFS), cinnamon rolls tomorrow and peanut butter pie for Easter dessert.
Tired and ready for snack time
Jujube devoured her pie before we even set foot outside
When we returned home, there was a package on the front steps from Ninang. Now I love it when I get anything bigger than a regular envelope. It was filled with presents for the kids: jewelry for Jujube, book & DVD for Cazin and a handmade smocked dress and play vacuum for Ella.

Top the day off with dinner with Grandma and Grandpa who brought more Easter goodies. Life is good!

That does sound like a GOOD Friday. Not to mention jam packed with goodies.
