Who cut the cheese?

Ella's pediatrician, that's who. After baby acne, Ella has maintained spots of rashes around her elbows, face and knees. In a previous blog entry I mentioned that Ella broke out into rash & hives after a full day of "regular" formula. She also has had loose stools since then. The redness and hives went away, but the eczema-like roughness stayed. All over. At her check-up, the doctor said that her skin was indicative of a milk allergy and that I had to cut out all dairy in my diet. BAH! The plan is to continue nursing and try soy formula if I need to as well as the dairy ban. If the issues persist then we move to RAST testing...the nurse in me is already looking at her veins. Aside from this milk allergy she is moving right along. In addition to her milestones that I mentioned in the "4 months old" entry Ella has started to roll from side to side. One more good heave of her chubby thigh and I think she could make it all the way over to tummy time.

Ella by the numbers...Starting to even out, she is following the pattern of her older siblings.
Weight: 14 lbs 4 oz (50%)
Length: 24 3/4 in (75%)
Head Circumference: 41.5 cm (50%)

After our appointment, Ella & I joined friends at Chik-fil-a for lunch and then headed home to prepare dinner for guests. Despite my new "no dairy" rule I did cheat little. It was a grill theme: grilled pears drizzled with melted stilton, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, spaghetti squash and steak. For dessert Jujube and I made a rhubarb & strawberry pie from the berries that we picked at Chile's. We are looking forward to a few days of sun and a restful weekend!

Hoping cheese finds its way back into your diet soon, and that baby Ella gets the all clear too. Cheese is too good to miss!
