A year in review

Because of winter birthdays Piedmont Pediatrics sees alot of us this time of year. We don't mind because they happen to have a fabulous sticker collection and we love them all especially Dr. Michel and Nurse Camilla.

Ella's milestones:
Standing solo and "cruising" holding onto furniture
Recognizes phrases, songs and games. Her favorite song is Clean Little Hands.*
Understands "No." (An important one in my book.)
Appropriately says or points to "dada" and "mama"
12 big chompers!
Discovered temper tantrums
Hair: getting longer and lighter by the minute

Ella by the numbers:
Height: 29 1/4 in (50%)
Weight: 21 lbs 1 oz (50%)
Head Circumference: 45.6 cm (70%)

Ella's development is on track, but we do have to see an ENT specialist for a cyst on her ear that has existed since birth. Most of the time it is benign in appearance, but on rare occasions there is some drainage present. Eventually it may have to be excised which is a surgical procedure so we are visiting the ENT on Friday to gain his input on the matter.

I am looking forward to a long break from work. Though Mother Nature threatens another dumping of snow (I heard 36-40") I am happy that it will happen on my weekend off unlike the past 2 times. Sadly it may cancel our "Prime Birthday Party" for the kids and our NYC getaway, but I promised Julia we would still pig out on cake in any event.
Dr. Michel, the baby whisperer
*I don't know where this song originated, but when I had Julia, it automatically popped out of my mouth from nowhere. Though I don't remember learning it as a child, it is embedded in the far crannies of my brain. I think it is Filipino. All the recordings I found were of my people. "I hab two hands, da lep and da right..."

Oh, the fine Doctor picture as promised. Almost as excited to see him as I am to see baby Ella. Notice I say almost. Ella continues to be a DOLL. Love all that hair and that precious smile.

Hoping the snow doesn't change the bday plans, but not feeling too good about that one.

Anyway, know you'll have some great pics.

Thankfully it sounds like we'll ONLY get two feet. Haha...funny how much our perspective has changed this winter.

Ella's hair is so long!

Hi there- I've been following your blog for about a year now (through Julie) when I found out our babies were born just weeks apart.

I laughed so hard about the Clean Hands song because I too started singing it and had no idea where it came from. No one else I knew had heard of the song. My mom tells me it's a Filipino nursery rhyme.

Your kids are adorable and I enjoy all your family stories. Thanks for sharing!
