At her 4 year check up today Julia gave us a laugh. She has always been a good patient. Listens to instructions, very responsive, very compliant and doesn't fuss much when she has to get shots. When the pediatrician was doing the exam, she got to the examination of the "down there" as a good friend likes to say. Dr. Mayo was talking to Julia and said something like "This is your private area and no one should touch your private area except when mommy or daddy need to help you and when you come to get your check up at the doctor's." Julia sat up and smiled (I was wondering what was going to come out of her mouth) and said, "Just like what the water fairy says to Tinker Bell: 'Cover your tushy!'" We all got a good laugh and the doctor said that she should know better to put it in princess terms when talking to a 4 year old girl.
Julia also got her first cell phone call today. When we were at the doctor's, we got a voicemail from her new BFF, Sarah. It was the cutest thing I ever heard. Julia has been missing Sarah and constantly asks when we will see her again. When we got home she and Sarah got to talk on the phone and Julia was upset that Sarah couldn't come over. She doesn't quite understand the distance between Louisiana and Virginia.
