Gearing up

We have spent this week in a flurry of activities gearing up for next week. I won't even go into detail about perhaps the worst 2 shifts in my nursing career. Unpacking, laundry and packing again. A day at NIH for a Camp Fantastic meeting and some shopping for theme items for camp. I also had my first post-op appointment and I believe Dr. Bailey had to hold back his tears at the beauty of the wound care done by my fine husband. It is healing wonderfully, but I still have to keep up with it during camp next week. I have already told my camp roommate that I am calling upon our friendship (and her nursing skills) to fill in. We were co-workers at MCV and have been friends for 8 years so I trust her with muh bum.

The kids continue to be on their best behavior! No fits have been pitched. All have been compliant with my orders. Besides a few sibling spats, everyone has been even keel. Jujube has been so helpful, not complaining one bit when I ask for her assistance. She has been making breakfast, cleaning, changing Ella and helping out Cazin. She reads to her siblings and entertains them while I'm busy. While I was folding clothes, it was a little too quiet downstairs. I went down to investigate and Ella was playing with a puzzle while Julia was sitting quietly in the recliner watching her. "I'm watching Ella play and making sure she doesn't get into anything, mommy." Their behavior has been rewarded and my sweet kids have gotten lots of praise, kisses, hugs and treats this week. Cazin wants to jump right in and I try to remember to ask him for help as well. He yells at Jujube, "My turn, my turn! I want to help!" or "I want to get it!" I am waiting for the fall, but till then I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

One of the treats: Disney sunglasses
(on sale at Harris Teeter for you C-ville moms out there)
