Camp Fantastic 2010

Sigh. Another fabulous year at camp. I wish I could do Camp Fantastic every day. Every. Single. Day. The campers are incredible and the medical and program staff are phenomenal people. Besides teen girls team leader responsibilities, my other favorite parts of the day are the classes. This year I was assigned to All-Star Sports, Origami in Creative Expressions and Cooking class.

Camp is always a mixture of emotions for me. EXCITED to see how everyone has grown. HOPEFUL to see if the kids make it through the year to return again. HAPPY to be surrounded by the camp family and all of the love we give each other. PROUD of the really sick campers who make it through the week. Who literally get up from their hospital bed, get on the bus and come to camp. SAD in remembering the campers that have passed and those who cannot return due to age or the prospect that they may not make it through the year. GRATEFUL to the parents who send their children to camp even though they may not have much time left with them. BLESSED beyond measure to be able to participate.

Fabulous new night: Minute to Win It. Marisol is trying to get all of the ping pong balls out of the box that is tied to her back. Kids were doing the booty bounce, hip shakes and jumping like rabbits to get all of the balls out. The games were absolutely hilarious.
A big thanks to Lola & Lolo for watching the kids for the week. Lolo took Julia to see Mary Poppins at the Kennedy Center. She absolutely loved it. Other surprises included Chucky Cheese and a visit from Lola's sister, Tita Grace and her family. The kids could stay there forever, they have so much fun.
