Back to the beginning

Let's rewind back to the beginning of July before time escapes me and the month goes by with only 1 posting. On July 4th weekend Lolo, Lola & Mama Mer made a trip down to Crozet. Besides good food, their visits usually also include shopping sprees. I am always a willing participant, even after a night shift. Nothing perks me up like retail therapy.  Before bedtime, we watched the fireworks from our deck. The kids were in their pajamas and the adults devoured the fresh berry pie from the peach orchard. One of the many perks of living in Crozet, especially near the park.

The rest of the long weekend, we did nothing but fulfill our Sunday obligation. To tell you the truth, I was feeling a little under the weather. So much that Jujube asked me why I was sleeping during the day though I didn't work at night. Bless her generous heart, she even folded 2 loads of laundry without being asked to help a mama out. I promised her extra $ in her commission envelope this week for such good behavior. I just love that girl.

At one point in the day everyone was sleeping except for the kids.

Happy 4th! We really mean it.

The beginning of July has also brought a flooding of pregnancy hormones. MFS would say they arrived a while back. I usually keep my temper in check, but it seems to make its way to the surface rather quickly during pregnancy. Followed by hot flashes and antiperspirant checks. One minute I want to kick MFS in the teeth and then the next want to hug the life out of him. After 4 pregnancies MFS is a pro and does a pretty good job of ducking for cover riding the hormonal wave. This morning I had to complete the 3 hour glucose test since a moment of Captain Crunch stupidity led me to fail my initial one hour test. Three magazines, 10 Angry Bird rounds and 6 needle sticks later I took the kids to Tip Top Cafe for lunch to lick my wounds. Then to Kohl's and Target for some more healing. Hopefully this test comes back okay because I won't know what to do with the chocolate stash I purchased at Target today.

As for other updates, the bunk beds for the kids were finally delivered and they LOVE them. In a few years the girls and boys will be separated, but for now the 3 older School children opted to stay in the same room. Ellaroo has graduated to the toddler bed, and Cazin & Jujube to the bunk bed. So far it has worked out splendidly and I hope that they continue to love each other and be close throughout the years. Funny story about the bunk. I told MFS that the ceiling fan in their room would need to be removed. It is just too close to the top and I saw a precious chandelier from Land of Nod to take its place. Oh we just won't turn on the fan, was his response.

I think we need to take it down. Hmmm.

Well my Cazin comes to the rescue with his gross habits. Jujube informed me not only does she like to use the fan blades as a ride for Frankie, but that Cazin likes to "put the boogies on the fan."

Cazin, is that true? Did you pick your nose and put the boogers on the fan? Yup.

That fan is as good as gone.

I laughed all the way through this blog. All the way through it. And have the red wine on my white shorts as proof. Note to self: don't take a sip of red wine and read The School Family blog again. Hilarious. All of it. Except the pregnancy hormone parts, of course.
