We have all been a little off kilter this weekend. Maybe we're still reeling from the first week back at school. Maybe because MFS was away on retreat. Maybe because of the fickle weather.
On Saturday, Lola and Auntie Nida came down to watch the kids while I attended a funeral. I never met Cecil Scott, but from all of the outpouring of love and stories I felt like I knew him well. Though their grief runs terribly deep, Patti and the girls were such examples of faith, grace and strength. It was a blessing to witness. The church was packed - an example of how God can take one man to make such an impact in the world. The service was a beautiful celebration of Cecil's life.
Lola and Auntie Nida left shortly after I returned home and then it was time for dinner. Surprisingly, the kids asked me for an early bedtime. Julia even said, "It is like I am so tired, I cannot eat." Now that is TIRED, ya'll. They all humored me and stuffed a few spoonfuls of spaghetti and meatballs in their mouth before heading up to start the bedtime routine.
Forward to this morning. Max awoke multiple times during the night which left mama a little cranky and bleary eyed. The drooling and faint sharp edge in his gum line lends me to think a tooth is on the way. Just as Max is gaining and tooth, I also discovered that Cazin is losing a tooth. He could care less and refuses any of his sister's advice to advance the removal along.
After dragging ourselves out of bed, we headed over the mountain to Target in search of supplies for Julia's reading response project. After a heated discussion this morning, she finally decided on creating a poster advertisement.
Now MFS is home resting from his retreat and I need to address the Christmas decoration situation before Mass. Never thought I would say this, but I am looking forward to the week!
